Handcrafted Tī kōuka hand-brooms

$55.00

In my search for sustainable brush/broom making, I’m using leaves from wild harvested local Tī kōuka (cabbage tree, Cordyline australis) to make a nice sized hand-broom. Each listing here has a handwoven 100% cotton band and hanger. Based on an Appalachian weaving pattern, I designed these lovely bristled brushes as a functional broom and/or display piece.

These handcrafted brooms are perfect for steps, paths, outdoor furniture, hearth, hard floors, house exteriors, work benches, trucks . . . the list goes on! They also make a striking wall hanging inside and are made to be used and admired.

I purchased two, one for myself and one for a friend for Christmas. I loved the idea of using Tii koouka as a sustainable native source. I use my broom for yard work (leaves, grass after weeding and mowing). Highly recommend. That they are “custom” made, makes it all the more worthwhile.

Karen was absolutely wonderful to deal with, went out of her way to get this too me for Christmas as it was an intended gift, it was so beautifully hand made, the weaving of the natural thread is perfect! I was so impressed that I got her to make one for me too. I love that she customised it with a feather for me. I havent used it yet as its almost too nice to use, but it feels very sturdy.
